Finale2010 And Altiverb
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.7. I just installed FinMac2010r4 and the Audio Unit version of Altiverb 6 doesn't show up in either the FX or Master FX Audio Unit lists. All my other AU plugins (including all my Waves and Metric Halo plugins) show up in the Finale list. It's available as an Audio Unit plugin in all my other audio applications including AU Lab from the Apple Developer installation.
Any ideas?

Re: Finale2010 And Altiverb
Leigh--
I've been watching this thread for responses for a couple of days. I don't have any answers, really, because I don't have Finale 2010. I will check to see what happens with Finale 2009, which I *do* have.
However, I don't work with AU and Finale, so I hope whatever I find will be of some help to you.
I know that MIDI Life Crisis has 2010, but I don't know if he has Altiverb.....

Re: Finale2010 And Altiverb
So far, Finale support has had me make sure Altiverb is installed in /Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components (it is) and delete the following files located in Macintosh HD > Applications > Finale 2010 > Finale AU:
- FinaleAU_Ignore.txt
- FinaleAU_Loadcrumb.txt
- FinaleAU_Validated.txt
Deleting these files cured the multiple listing of my Waves plugins but Finale still can't find Altiverb.
They've also asked me to check MIDI/Audio menu > Device Setup > Manage AU Plugins to see if Altiverb 6 listed in either the Active or Inactive plugins (it isn't).
I have to say I'm glad I made the move from FinMac2009 to FinMac2010. I've only done a small woodwind quintet and some lead sheets with it but the improvement in assigning expressions is wonderful.
A severe limitation is that Tobias Giesen hasn't updated TGTools for 2010 and so his Transfer plugin no longer lets me copy and paste part formatting from one part to another. I hope he fixes it soon.

After all the usual trouble-shooting, here's the conclusion:
Response (Mick W.) - 09/01/2009 10:26 AM
Leigh,
It appears that the Altiverb 6 effect is not compatible with Finale 2010. I am forwarding on this issue to our developers to check for compatibility issues, and to see if we can find a solution.
Please feel free to respond to this case if you have any further questions about this issue.

Re: Finale2010 And Altiverb
Oh, man.
Leigh, you did a heck of a job sleuthing. There's some measure of victory in that alone.
I'm waiting for TGTools before moving to v2010. I see that the $99 offer is good for another few days, so maybe I'll order it and hold off on the installation.
The other 'little' thing that's holding me back is that v2010 is not 100% compatible with Snow Leopard just yet. It's not that the problems are without their workarounds, but it just may be too soon to push the envelope.

Finale 2010 is compatible with Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) with the exception of few known problems that have workable solutions.
Reports of compatibilty problems with earlier versions of Finale, PrintMusic, and NotePad that are supported on Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) seem to be limited to the same issues listed above.
- Garritan Aria Player compatibility with Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Errors during installation of Finale on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
TIFF files crashing on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Fonts not displaying correctly on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
The Aria Player used with Finale 2009c has also received an update which can be found here. However, due to the timeline of when these products were designed and tested, they are not officially supported on Snow Leopard at this time.
Versions of Finale, Allegro, PrintMusic, SongWriter, and NotePad that are not supported on Leopard will have similar compatibility problems on Snow Leopard.

Re: Finale2010 And Altiverb
Frodo,
I really like a lot of the new stuff in FinMac2010 but having it break TGTools is a huge cost. I contacted Tobias and he said an update was coming "soon". I know many other people have contacted him and heard the same thing so I hope he can get it done quickly. I told him I'd gladly pay him (Tuesday!) full price again just for the Transfer Layout tool. I am back to the tedium and time-consuming job of formatting each part from scratch. Plus, I use Bill Duncan's Finale Productivity system for chord symbols and the TGTools Alternate bass tool is also broken which means again the tedium and time to format alternate bass slash notes and polychords. I'd pay him full price again for each of these tools (do I sound desperate?)! Waiting for him to do it is certainly better than having MakeMusic install the same functionality, though, which the missing Altiverb underscores.
Still, even without TGTools Finale beats an Osmiroid and white-out!

+1 on TG Tools. Essential! And about that hamburger? Is today the day? I know I'll have the money on Tuesday as well...
