Throughput of a 424

Post by robdarling@mail.com »

Running under XP Pro on a Tyan 2895 mobo with 2gb ram, in the 133 pci-x slot that is on its own leg of the amd 8131 bus,

will I be able to run all the channels (60) of a 2408 and a 308?

Rob,

Sorry no real answer, but it would seem that with each of those boxes supposedly being capable of running fully loaded, and with a 424 being able to handle 4 simultaneous (loaded) 2408s,etc., it would seem like it should. Add to that the fact that they, or at least the 308, were around long before the 424-X or your host's capabilities, and you'd think the chances would be as good or better.

Bullmoon is the only guy I remember right off running a 308, but I'm not sure how much stuff he had hanging off of it. Lex also had a "weighted down" 424 machine IIRC. -guessing you still hit the Nuendo boards

Good Luck,

George

PS- Don't blame you for wanting to see an actual "real world" example system first though (...the dots look good on paper  ).

Yeah, I actually have pm'ed Steve. He's doing 24 i/o.

I kind of figured I'd end up being on my own on this one. I'm in a position where I need some pci slots back (I'm using rme aes-32 x3 right now) and being able to get all my i/o on one pci card is pretty sexy. So I'll give it a shot. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

best,

r.
