Mac Pro + Traveler System Noise

Post by pjones79 »

I am getting noise from my mac pro that is audible with even low gains, and is recorded to track. I have tried using a different firewire port, turning off my external firewire drives, but no joy. I have the following system:

Mac Pro 2x3gig Intel
4 Gig ram
traveler (firmware 1.07)
Logic Pro 7.2.3

The noise sounds like it's digital noise from my computer - i can sometimes hear the mouse moving, and hard disk activity... I do not have the same problem when using and recording with my traveler on my powerbook.

Any ideas? Please help....

Thanks for your time.[/list][/i]

I hear a similar noise on my G4 powerbook (noise when mouse moved, typing, etc.) and can get rid of it by disabling "nap" for the processor. To do this install the CHUD tools (part of Xcode) off the OSX disk and then use the processor pane in system preferences. I hope this works for you.
