Re: Time to Backup to the Cloud?
Wow, you'd need a megahuge trust before you try this.

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
It’s hard to tell. Sometimes on playback. A lot recording. No plugins other than PianoTeq, but as I said it was doing it before i started using that. I’ve taken out Altiverb and other plugins for recording because I don’t need them. When recording the band I’m also playing and leading the band do I...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
But for some reason, it’s not the most “inspiring” DAW for me when it comes to my own creative projects. I’m a really visually oriented person when it comes to software, so if I’m just creating something from scratch and for fun, the visual part of the experience is important to me. (YMMV of course...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
If you really want to sidetrack, you should give a try to Studio One. I have used it for a while before moving to DP, and one of its great strengths appears to be its great stability. Works like a clock. I used the free version at first to test it, then purchased the Pro version. I will definitely k...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
You are conflating topics. Forget V-Racks. Just built a friggin instrument track that hosts both the MIDI region and the plugin hosting in one track. It can be chunk able. Done. I don't understand this. Many instruments can handle several channels, hence more than one track. It doesn't make sense t...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
In DP, seeing the VI as a "track" merely serves to see it in the mixing board, as the console has a one-to-one match with the tracks. The same goes with the VCAs, there is no proper cause to handle them as a track, they are mere additions to the mixer. In the mixing board, however, VCAs an...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
DP just has tracks (excluding V-racks for the moment). and for whatever the reason they have decide that in order to have a MIDI track feeding to an instrument plugin, you need a second track to host the instrument plugin, which I also find a bit annoying, but that one is not the end of the world. ...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
I find myself using it more but only as I exchange files with others. I find myself more and more often moving between DP and Logic, while working on project with distant other musicians, pandemic obliges. I have found that there are a lot of hurdles and bugs converting projects. I guess I'm not th...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
Thanks! Actually I spent some time in Studio One too before coming back to DP. Every DAW has its good sides and trying them is definitely interesting. The business model of Studio One is especially interesting: they have a free version, cross-platform, very simple but quite complete already with aud...

Re: Logic 10.5 vs DP 10.1
Interesting. I'm following the exact inverse path: crossgraded to DP a few weeks ago and giving up on Logic, because it's too illogic and untidy for my taste. I loved working on stage with MainStage but with Logic, I always feel I'm fighting the computer instead of making music. Back to DP after dec...

Re: Time to Backup to the Cloud?
Cloud-backup is indeed getting an attractive option. However the tools are yet to offer the needed flexibility, performance and cleverness. There are tons and tons of files that we DON'T want to backup because they are easy to redownload from their original source in case of need, such as sample lib...

Conductor track to Logic
I have a DP project with tempo acceleration (drawn with the spline tool, so a lot of data in a couple of measures). I need to send a Logic version to a friend, but recovering the tempo properly seems to be difficult. Conductor track's MIDI file is ignored by Logic, perhaps because it contains no not...

Re: Mixes Inconsistencies
OK, so it comes back to the usual question; why would I used a VCA in DP (or any DAW)? In DP, a VCA is merely a special presentation mode for a group controlling only mute and volume. That's pretty simple. The big difference is that VCA-grouped faders don't "move together" when one is tou...

Re: Mixes Inconsistencies
Well I'm just recording myself these days and sold my studios, Alpha in Burbank in 2005 but I would say of todays artists with a choice, they would always opt for faders, always, that said, a mouse is now ingrained permanently and a required item for all DAWs, agreed. I can do mouse mixes fine in D...
