Re: Seeking Advice: In Search Of That "Bedspins" Effect

Thanks!
If there's one thing any of my projects could use more of, it's "Wow Control!" :)

Re: Seeking Advice: In Search Of That "Bedspins" Effect

I don’t know if you can automate the Warp parameter in iZotope’s Vinyl but it now supports NKS and is still free. You can turn the Noise and Scratch controls off. The vinyl plugin was a good call. -- perhaps not exactly what I was imagining (but hey, whaddya want for the grand price of "free&q...

Re: Seeking Advice: In Search Of That "Bedspins" Effect

You are describing wow and flutter , considered a defect with vinyl and audio tape,. There are plug-ins designed to correct it and others designed to introduce it—you want the later, often described as “low-fi”. Google is your friend. I don’t know if any introduce the random element you are looking...

Seeking Advice: In Search Of That "Bedspins" Effect

Hello everyone Can anybody suggest a process for applying an across-the-board effect to a project that would result in global tempo & pitch fluctuations that rise and fall slightly? Something akin to turning a phonograph record manually (the fingertip-on-the-label trick, let's say). The aim is t...

Make sure you define your Sample Rate and bit depth before you bring audio in.
Yet another savvy (...and appreciated!) gem of wisdom.

Thanks again!

Re: Using DP to sketch the running order of songs: A truly basic question

- Is it that leaving DP in Tempo Slider mode at 120 will also derive accurate total running time on the clock, - or does that only mean that I need not harbor concerns about alterations to the imported audio, and I should confirm running times some other way? (I had the impression that total time i...

Re: Using DP to sketch the running order of songs: A truly basic question

If you are importing stereo audio files into a DP project/chunk, tempo is irrelevant. Don't even touch the tempo settings and all will be well. Doug Hello again, Doug Thanks particularly for this information -- sorry I neglected to point it up in my previous reply. You've saved me a pile of work ri...

Re: Using DP to sketch the running order of songs: A truly basic question

If the songs don't crossfade, you can put them all in one stereo track. For crossfades, drag the x-fading song(s) into a 2nd stereo track. This gives you separate and more detailed control over the fade out and fade in shapes. For working out song orders, start with an order you like, perhaps inclu...

Re: Using DP to sketch the running order of songs: A truly basic question

If you are importing stereo audio files into a DP project/chunk, tempo is irrelevant. Don't even touch the tempo settings and all will be well. Personally, I would import all the the stereo audio files into the same chunk and place them all on the same track, one after the other. Then, if you wish,...

Using DP to sketch the running order of songs: A truly basic question

Hey everyone Sorry to trouble you all with what seems like it must be a very rudimentary question, but I've actually never used DP like this before: I want to import mixes into a DP project and simply use the project as a sketchpad to play around with the order of the mixed songs. I made a project w...

Re: 14.4.1

Ventura to Sonoma? But why? I'm running pretty smoothly under Ventura, and don't see anything but more troubles under Sonoma. I use Kontakt a lot, and that alone is reason enough to hang tight at present. I would hold off, there is still issues with Kontakt, which seems to be one of root issue for ...

Re: 14.4.1

Greetings everyone Thanks for this thread -- I'm interested to learn what the general mind & mood about upgraded OS's is now. I requested opinions about bumping from OS 13 > 14 3 or 4 weeks ago, and at that point the responses were pretty uniformly (unicorn-ly?) "I wouldn't do that quite ye...

Re: OS 14: Is It Time?

Thank you, Mike!

I don't have any compelling requirement to make the move now, so I'll wait till things settle out further. I appreciate your wisdom on the topic, and I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties it has saddled you with!

Best regards,

Re: Hardware Insert plugin -- check me on this, please?

Thank you for the additional explanation -- I appreciate the attention I hope that my thick skull hasn't proved too terribly frustrating. It's getting a lot more clear, and I think I'm beginning to understand that -- because I was routing the mic'd signal back to a new track -- it likely wasn't nece...
