Re: backing tracks & click track

Live PA's typically run mono...essentially. So mix your click to the left side and the sequence/vocals to the right. Bounce down to an mp3 and use an mp3 player to play back during shows. It works great! The drummer can use his own mixer to send an aux or direct out of the sequence/right channel to ...

Also, are you confusing perceived gain levels with monitor mix? "Shift A" command will bring up your audio monitor window. This is where you can visually set your gain. You should easily have enough gain to clip the input signal. Then, your MOTU control panel should be set to monitor chann...

All you need is an optical cable. I use a monster cable. Yep, slave the 8000 and select the adat option in your control panel. Pretty simple.

Could be a couple things. First, check to make sure that the clock source is set to internal. I'm not sure if Cubase can over-ride the motu control panel but, it's worth checking into. Also, does the 828 settle on a clock source when powered up WITHOUT a fire cable attached? I've had trouble on occa...

Did you blow a fuse in the 828? Is there any power indication at all?

My 828mk1 cranks my Rode mics no problem. I believe your problem is having redundant inputs. Use 1 & 2 for mics. Use the rear 3-8 for trs.

I think number 2 sounded the most analog and slightly more pleasing than number 3. Number 1 was top heavy and thin.

My guess:

#1 is 828
#2 Focusrite
#3 RME

Cool comparison man

Don't channels 1&2 have switchable gain settings (-10 & +4)? Maybe you have these switched to the wrong setting for what you're using them for.

I don't have the mk2, but the mk1 will do that when the firewire connection goes down. Try unplugging the firewire from the back of the 828 and see if it's stops going crazy.

I have the same problem, although my unit is 5 years old now and just started getting scratchy. The thing has been rock solid otherwise. If anyone finds a good replacement part, please let us know.

probably the firewire card/drivers. borrow or buy a new card and check it out. Certain chipsets on some cards are flakey with the motu stuff

actually, it is in your input monitor settings...probably in the MOTU firewire setup control panel. Basically, you need to switch the input monitor option from analog 1-2 (1 being left & 2 being right)...change it to monitor analog 1 input only. Not sure if you're in OSX or not. OS9 it's in the ...

Well first off; I have to compliment PSP. I bought VW, Mixpack and Stereopack when I first purchased my MOTU interface. The prices were fantastic, items installed easily and when I decided to change from the VST to MAS versions they responded kindly, promptly and everything was a breeze. Great compa...
