Did you do the repair permissions and maintenance scripts? That can sometimes fix weird problems. Just a thought.

The most finicky I've ever seen are the installers for Final Cut Pro when you have an upgrade. Seems like 5000 letters for the serial number on every version you have.

I tied newer cables, another MTP-AV, and neither solved the problem. So count me in as one who is still waiting for a solution.
