Was there ever any success tracking down this issue and solving it? A MOTU "techlink" request seems like a futile effort to get it sorted.
Anyone deal with this disappearing midiport stuff?

Re: Intro and 828mk2 : Windows question
I really don't know. The 828mk2 is what I have, so that's what I use.

Re: Intro and 828mk2 : Windows question
I can't say about the Windows 7 compatibility, I'm using XP still, but I do have a Presonus Digimax connected to the ADAT ports for 8 more analog input/outputs and it works just great for that. I just discovered that the 828 works better when I have it slave to the Presonus' wordclock, which apparen...

Re: Intro and 828mk2 : Windows question
You can set up and save mixer settings on the 828mk2 without any computer at all. They refer to it as "standalone mode" but basically the front panel settings can be saved into I believe 4 "mixers" if that helps. The idea I guess was to use it in a live show for mixing synths or ...

Re: missing motu 828 MIDI drivers
I am suddenly having this same problem. XPsp2 running Cubase SX3, neither the PC or Cubase can find the MOTU MIDI port anymore. Also, now I have to reinstall both the drivers and the interface every time I reboot the PC. Not good... Once I reinstall fresh the driver 3.6.7.4 and the interface, then a...

Fried 828mk2
Yes, this is exactly what happened to me, within two months of buying it new from Sweetwater. It was indeed fried and Sweetwater will not help you. MOTU replaced it with a REFURBISHED unit for as I recall, $80. Not free.
It's unlikely that they will replace it with a Mk3. That would be cool though.

Re: How to monitor realtime VST effects in 828/cubase? PLZ H
In Cubase SX under Device Settings you have to uncheck "direct monitoring" and this will allow you to do what you want. Unfortunately it will also hog ram and increase latency so depending on your system, it might not really work for you. I want to record my guitar with cans on and listen ...

Fried 828mkII FW
Well, you're right... 90 days guarantee and I am just outside of that. However, I did get through to MOTU on my first call, got the RA set up and am sending them back the fried unit today. Seems relatively hassle free at this point. We'll see how fast I get the replacement though, I am in NY and the...

828mkII FW just melted down
Anyone ever see this before? In a VERY simple setup, a brand new 828, brand new Dell dimension 520 (dual core pentium, 2gb ram, SATA raid drives) ART Digital MPA recieving wordclock from the 828, feeding SPDIF into the 828. Cubase SX3 recording. Working just great for two hours, then... click... HUM...
