Re: Replacing ALL of the caps on my 1248 and one on my 16A…
Yes, heat causes accelerated degradation, caps are rated for a life span that derates with heat. That can really dry out all the caps in a unit experiencing the same heat conditions. These units run hot, they must have open space above and below (THE MANUALS SAY SO!), and they still get warm like th...

Re: "File Not Found (-43)"
Happened a lot this weekend, multiple times a complete freeze requiring force quit, wouldn't save. Occasionally it went away and I could continue. Every time I had a look and it was always at the end of an automatic time machine backup. TM is a USB3 Samsung T7 APFS volume. Maybe not related, but.......

Not the same but feels the same:
Older session re-opened with missing plugs - clear missing. Then if you duplicate a mix, or change mixes, it always asks about the missing plugs even though they’ve been cleared and no longer exist.

Re: Can't remove outdated MIDI destination from Project.
I have a message about a missing controller on sessions of a certain age, never clears/dismisses no matter how many new project versions are saved, no place to delete it. Annoying.

Re: How to measure headroom?
A headroom mystery I have yet to answer regarding 32 bit float - had a bounce that showed clipping at roughly +3.5, turn the bounce file down below zero, yep, definitely clipped. The theory of 32 bit float says this shouldn’t happen. There were no mix bus plugs.

Re: Does MOTU has an "out of warranty" repair policy?
It's possible they will sell a replacement power supply module, they have been doing so with 16A's recently. There does not seem to be any repair service since Covid. They would previously offer a replacement unit at a nominal charge, and I suspect then repair the returned unit to use as someone els...

Re: External pre-amps into MOTU 896
Looks like using the line switch position adds an extra amp stage over using it in pre position. Unless you’re using the pga path…. Block diagrams like this aren’t always truthful. Which gain stage do you mean? The PGA itself is the controllable gain knob (10-65dB) of the preamp, which always appli...

Re: External pre-amps into MOTU 896
We’d need a schematic. Many many circuits are the same path for mic and line, just with some pad resistors for the line option. I think there are combi jacks that are normalled for both connections, and others that keep it separate. That may be a design choice based on how the connector is wired in,...

Yup I’m finding for instance, the Rode Soundfield plug isn’t yet updated, and you gotta have it to use the ambisonic mic they sell. ?!?! Appears a similar fate for several other mic pattern decoder plugs. Rode answers me that there are no plans currently to transition this plug to silicon native du...

Re: RANT - Developer: "You can still run [Insert DAW Name] in Rosetta mode"...
I don’t understand the plugs that are clearly running under Rosetta versus the ones that can’t be seen at all unless DP is running under Rosetta. I’ve got plugs from a dozen years ago that run fine in DP without the Rosetta checkbox selected for DP. Everything is an AU version, I don’t have VST enab...

Re: DP MP3 creation vs iTunes.
Hmmm. Haven’t tried LAME in a long time, Itunes always kicked the crap out of it. LAME sounded….lame, and broken, at least 5 years ago. Nothing like the orig WAV, itunes was about indistinguishable.

Have you watched the plug-in performance window? You’ve not mentioned any one way or the other.
