An interesting option as a 2nd monitor.
I ran into this the other day and had never seen a "portrait" monitor like this. Hypothetically it occurs to me that especially for those of us using notation programs this could make an interesting choice as a 2nd monitor, versus changing orientation on a regular landscape monitor. I'm curious if anyone has seen or used this monitor or generally what your thoughts are. That it can never be landscape is an issue, but then it takes up less horizontal desk space than pair of, say, 27" monitors, and maybe it's easier on the eyes looking at a full page of score, or a nicely setup display of DP plugins etc., is a possible plus.

Interesting… Thanks for the heads up!
I see them on Amazon from $540 to $647... nothing wrong with that.
I would lose the post that bolts to the desk but that's ok, LG monitors are ridiculously easy to use with VESA stands, some as low as $30 or so on Amazon — freed up a lot of desk space when I learned that. All three of my monitors are supported by these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYZ ... =UTF8&th=1
There are reports that these work with Macs though I found no instructions on how to set them up. I'll just assume that it can be done. I'm not sure that dual function can be used with M1 Macbooks that support only one external display, however. Though I have an M1 Macbook Air, will not be buying one of these monitors to test that.
I'd be enthusiastic if these were at least 2K (4K would be nicer) but that's because of my 70 year old eyes.
Nice that it also comes with a DislayPort cable, I suppose but no one will be using that with Apple Silicon.

My basic cheap Samsung monitor has an option to flip to portrait mode. I assume many if not most monitors can do this.

Yep. In addition to my 43” 4k Samsung, I have a couple of 32” LGs that are now about $220. (I paid more):bayswater wrote:My basic cheap Samsung monitor has an option to flip to portrait mode. I assume many if not most monitors can do this.

These are 2560x1440 and as I recall and rotate to portrait mode. Just need to change settings in the Display Prefs. They’re HDMI input only.

My understanding from comments a review is that the aspect ratio and where the image was "centered" was different than portrait mode for a 27" or whatever. I don't know. Perhaps this is why it's an oddity. Yes, most monitors do let you rotate, or course you also have cables and ports moving that can be messy and visible when rotating.

The stand actually looks pretty cool...
Re: An interesting option as a 2nd monitor.
True. But I doubt most of us would be rotating one monitor. More likely to have two, with one permanently rotated. My point was that is it likely anyone with two monitors can rotate one of them.joelfriedman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:02 pmYes, most monitors do let you rotate, or course you also have cables and ports moving that can be messy and visible when rotating.

Re: An interesting option as a 2nd monitor.
I finally followed the link (like I should have all along) and I sort of get it. It’s 2560x2880 so it’s the same as having two 2560x1440 displays stacked on each other. If it’s physically large enough it would be readable.
I have two 32” LG 2560x1440 display, each positioned on either side of my main 4K center display. I guess one of these could replace my two side monitors, but I wouldn’t want it to be much smaller.
