Safe bet. You can’t make it worse by going in as I suggested. OTOH, you can probably get a few bucks selling it on eBay for parts.

IIRC, the 828 first version does not work as a stand-alone converter. Someone was trying to make that work unsuccessfully last year so I checked the manual to see no mention of stand-alone operation at all.

Weird because the first version of the 2408 does (44.1/48 only) and I used mine that way as a converter between the direst outs of a Mackie 1604 and my FOSTEX FD8. The FD8 could record 8 channels simultaneously only via ADAT, otherwise it was limited to 2. I would then hook the 2408 to the 324 card so that I could dump all 8 tracks over ADAT into my Beige G3 and work them in DP 2.7. We’ve come a long way in the last 25 years.
