Accessing AVB interface from an M1 mac & 'core audio' functionality

Post by stripeyjoe »

Hi all,

Looking to move over from my MacMini late 2012 to an M1 version soonish and just have a couple of questions for anyone who has jumped ship already...

I am assuming that if you've saved a bookmark for your MOTU's IP address in your browser then you can still access the interface's web application from an M1 Mac or just enter it directly in a browser and it's just the 'discover' application that is not working. From there I can set up cue mixes, sends, save/recall presets and all the usual stuff I do?

With an AVB interface operating under USB and core audio, does it revert a stereo in/out or do all the inputs and outputs still show in Audio MIDI setup?
Is this the same in Logic or Garageband?

Thanks all!

Hi,
Below is a link to another thread where I've explained how I am able to get the MOTU Pro Audio Control web app to work on my M1 MacMini
using a MOTU 1248.

See the last two posts on page 1.

Thanks! Makes me a bit less nervous about making the switch.

Hey Joe,

Also take a look at the thread below for more information on setting up an AVB interface using Apple's built-in AVB driver.

The Apple Core Audio Driver (using USB) has a maximum of 24 inputs and Outputs simultaneously with any MOTU AVB Audio interface.
The Apple AVB Driver (using Ethernet) gives access to all available Inputs and Outputs of your MOTU AVB Audio Interface.

Some or all Inputs and Outputs of your interface (depending on which driver you decide to use) will be available in any DAW that supports
Multi-Channel Audio, including Logic and Garageband.
