setup with pro tools and Dig performer?

I'm getting pro tools HD and I already have DP. I want to know if I use DP under DAE when working in conjunction with pro tools, and access the HD box which has the1296 box slaved thru optical, Do I have to use the 324 pci card or will it just access the pro tools cards and see both boxes?

I have a pci slot issue and I really don't want to spring for the expansion chassis so I'm trying to consolidate.
