Hello everyone, I am a beginner to the world of computer music production, but I intend to become very experienced with it, as I make scores for films and computer games. I am now set up with the following hardware:
MOTU 828 Audio Interface
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum
M-Audio Keystation 61ES MIDI Controller
And my sequencing software:
Steinberg Cubase SX 2.2
So my question is, if I want to get high-quality "sounds", what is the next thing to get? I am mainly interested in good string instruments, wind instruments, and drums/percussion. Do I get "soundfonts"? "VST instruments"? Money is definately an issue, I would prefer to keep it under the $100-200 range. (if possible) I thank you graciously for any advice or help,
Brock Fanning

Take a look at Sound on Sound magazine and/or Computer Music mag. I forget which one it was, but one of them has a feature this month on the VIs you already have w/ Cubase SX. In any case, SOS mag is good, plus check out KVRaudio.com for all types of info on VIs, FX, etc.
