Some awesome new tools. And I've never used Clips. Might have to try 'em someday, but that day has yet to arrive!

As someone whose used Live for 15 odd years, nope, it got some basic ability to use Lives Clips type features but DP is still DP, you set a MIDI or audio file as a CLip in order to loop it instead of the old method, that’s the main difference if you avoid Clips.
My guess is they fix a few things along the way, but the big thing is getting DP all the features of Live that help people do film music and folly for live theatre etc. As someone who uses automation sometimes in a DAW for intricate LFO waveforms, that’s a feature of Clips in Live I missed in DP, take a few bars etc. and play in or draw automation that now acts like an LFO on audio or virtual instruments etc. IMO people vastly underestimate the usefulness of Clips in a DAW based on some idea that it’s only for repetitive techno or pop music.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

I'm just lazy Michael. I've always used Repeat instead of Loop, so nothing really had to change for me.Michael Canavan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 10:49 pmAs someone whose used Live for 15 odd years, nope, it got some basic ability to use Lives Clips type features but DP is still DP, you set a MIDI or audio file as a CLip in order to loop it instead of the old method, that’s the main difference if you avoid Clips.

How would one use Clips in film music? I'm curious.

Michael shows up on Facebook and, occasionally, the Finale forum but he hasn’t made an appearance here in over a year.
