So as I get my dedicated Unisyn box (G4 Mac Mini running Leopard) going, I needed more MIDI cables now that I'll need to have two-way communication with the modules in my rack. Previously, they were only connected at their MIDI IN, since I was just using them (rarely) for playback and not doing sysex.
So... I have no connection with these people, etc. but I just ordered this 3-pack of 3-foot 5-pin DIN MIDI cables for $10. Got them today, and they seem to work just fine. Can't go wrong at $3 a cable. I ordered another package just now after making sure these were up to snuff.

Re: Cheap AND Good MIDI Cables...
For a pedal board task, I got a few of these flat (low profile), right angle MIDI cords.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0781N848Q/
They come in different colors and lengths.
The only caveat is that connectors might block an adjacent MIDI port. One end of the cable will block to the right,
and the other end blocks to the left (oriented to the notch). So you have to check your situation carefully, and it might not
work at all for some applications. Nice for a pedal board though.
I think with these cheap cables, they may or may not be low noise, or road worthy. Time will tell?
