Furman pst-8d or pst-8

Post by plum »

I just ordered (still have time to change I think if I hurry) a Furman PST-8 but then I saw there is a D version which has four outlets that are supposed to be for extra digital nose filtering?

I am not sure if I have any equipment that falls into this category? pi.e. DVD. CD players.

However I am wondering about my Motu Audio Express. Since it is a A/D and D/A convertor, would that constitute the use of this Digital Noise filtering Feature?

Sorry realized finally that the Digital difference is the addition of a couple more coaxial inputs for T.V. cable etc...

So will stay with the PST-8. No need for D.

Not sure why you'd wouldn't be looking at a sinewave UPS like these considering the price point of the Furman.

Let's answer that.

For your Mac, something like this is a very good idea. It gives you 2–5 minutes to shut down and provides undervoltage protection. The 1500 model gives you 6 battery outlets and 6 surge only outputs for almost all your other gear. Your powered monitors go into the surge only outlets, for example, or you'd have very little shut down time in case of an outage. Your router and ISP box go into the battery outlets to minimize data loss.

You won't plug guitar amps or high-current anything such as many power amps or anything with tubes. For that, you're better off with a good surge protector.
