Digital Syncing 2 and a pre amp

Post by ygeorgiou »

Hi,

I am using two MOTUS 828 mk II connected together via
- firewire
- optical
- and word clock
(Mac OS X & Logic x)

The first (let’s say main motu) send out via optical to a DAC converter and Focal monitors.

All work fine at 48 KHz.

But when I connected a mic pre amp digitally via SPDIF to main motu I hear sync noise.

My Word Clock connections are in daisy chain. Motu 1 out - Motu 2 in - Motu 2 out - Mic Pre amp in.

QUESTION 1
Is this ok ? On Motus manual says daisy chain word clock for three devices maybe causes issues.

QUESTION 2
Do I need a synchronizer ?
If so, can I use MidiTimePiece AV as main Word clock synchronizer ?

Maybe my image helps

Thanks in advance
Yannis.
