Re: Dynamic mics
Agreed on the Audix i5 being stellar. I just got a pair of Beyerdynamic M201s. They sound really great on everything I've tried with them - trumpet, upright bass, even worked ok for acoustic guitar. I hear it's a favorite snare mic, and even makes a good overhead, but I don't usually record drums. A...

dp8 free upgrade (for recent purchase)
When DP8 was announced MOTU stated that folks purchasing DP7 after Jan 19 would receive a free upgrade. Anyone else who did so know how to make this happen?

Agreed. And glad you have such success with DP on stage.

Re: bouncing from bus
Sure. It's likely they are using redundant systems - every high end live show I know always has a backup for every software system, and an automatic switch that will switch audio as soon as there's a glitch. For me, using DP for 6ish years on multiple systems with MOTU hardware and almost no 3rd par...

Re: bouncing from bus
sound playback happens via Qlab, which is a sampler-like piece of software designed for theatrical situations, where everything needs to happen via called cues (an operator pressing "go" in response to the action). it allows for lots of layers to be triggered and modified independently. re...

Re: bouncing from bus
Thanks for the help everyone. I am getting results when adding the additional aux track that routes bus 1-4 to 5-8. I don't fully understand why this works, but it does. I guess then that a quad 1-4 is not just a composite of 1,2,3, and 4? There's some hidden internal routing that in this case neces...

Re: Fool-proof hard drive config. for live recording?
If you're on a laptop, the internal drive isn't a bad choice. Conventional wisdom is to separate your system and recording drives, but I think that mostly dates from the old days when disks weren't as fast. I've recorded plenty of small (2-10 track) projects for years with no issues. And of course, ...

Re: bouncing from bus
also, though i'm currently encountering this issue with a quad bounce, i have also had the exact issue with stereo bounces, using both the internal AIFF-interleaved option and the coreaudio AIFF option.

Re: bouncing from bus
I'm just bouncing audio. Essentially the goal of this is to bounce a 4-channel file, with channels 1-2 dry and 3-4 wet. as seen in the attached shot - there's an audio track, a reverb aux, and then two auxes sending both busses to the outputs. i have also tried using mutichannel i/o hardware, sendin...

Re: bouncing from bus
I'm not finding this to be true in my situation - even when the buses are routed through an aux track to hardware outputs, still nothing when choosing a bus bundle.

bouncing from bus
Hi - I'm encountering a problem where if I bounce to disk and choose a bundle that is a bus rather than a hardware output, the resulting bounced file is silent on all channels. It does have the correct number of channels, however. Any ideas? It would be very useful for me to be able to do this. usin...

using speakerphone 2.0.3. mac os 10.7.3, dp 7.24, macbook pro late 2011 with 2.2ghz i7 and 8gb ram.
given that they are similar on many levels, i'm curious if altiverb users have had any issues?

bounce many separate tracks
Is there a way to bounce a selection to disk, but have each track automatically bounce to a separate file? I do mostly theatrical sound design, where it's not a problem to have the playback software (Qlab) play back multiple layers, and its very advantageous to be able to adjust relative volume leve...

strange hard drive corruption
Hi all. I'm have a really wierd disk corruption issue that seems to revolve around DP and Speakerphone (Audio Ease). Running a late-2011 Macbook Pro, 10.7, DP 7.24. Everything is up to date. After being installed for a several weeks or months, I gradually start having issues with DP crashing when I ...
