Re: Best/Most Economical way to increase ports for monitors on M1 Max Mac Studio?
I've been holding off on posting, as I thought I had lost the link to a new-to-me aftermarket add-on manufacturer who I discovered by accident a couple of weeks ago. Turns out that I did bookmark their site in a less-used browser, so I found the link today for one example unit amongst their collecti...

Would that be a number two pencil or a mechanical pencil?

Re: New PSP PianoVerb Installer installs Intel Only AU by mistake
As I wrote to them about a similar issue with another update last month (I forget which one) and they were on it with an updated and corrected installer set the next day, I hope for your sake that the same happens for PianoVerb.

Re: DP 11.22 is the crashiest app I have.
I too am getting more crashes than ever, but it is very much related to specific plug-ins -- unfortunately, ones that I can't live without as the alternatives do not pass muster. The one that most frequently crashes if I even look at it, is IK Multimedia's T-RackS Meters, which I have engaged at alm...

Re: The Private Equity Buyout Of Music Production
Yep. I just bought two perpetual licenses for Plug-in Alliance products that came along since the subscription model, that I use all the time, but for the most part I use a very small part of their catalog (same as with Native Instruments) and may try to wean myself away at this point. I depended he...

Re: The Private Equity Buyout Of Music Production
Thanks for posting that. I have been so concerned over the massive and rapid industry consolidation that I have been trying to severely prune how many vendors I deal with, to minimize my risk of holding mostly abandonware.

Re: SoundToys SuperPlate coming in May, includes five different plate models, cheap upgrade to v5.4 suite from v5.3
The July 2023 issue of Sound On Sound has a free review of Super Plate. It's rare that they open up a new review to non-payers this early; usually you have to wait a few months. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/soundtoys-superplate I was just about to shut down for the night when I saw this, so ...

Re: Steinberg Dorico 5 is out today
Steep learning curve tonight, towards producing better jazz lead sheets after my combo rehearsed my latest song for Thursday's gig. All notation apps are crash-prone, buggy, and full of glitches and quirks, but so far I am finding Dorico 5 (but not necessarily Dorico 4) to be the easiest to use for ...

Yep, that's how they've done things in the past as well, but their wording could have been better as they scared some customers. Little Plate did reinstall but just for licensing purposes; I don't think it was updated.

Re: SoundToys SuperPlate coming in May, includes five different plate models, cheap upgrade to v5.4 suite from v5.3
I tried many different settings on acoustic guitar, 'ukulele, and resonator guitar last night, and all sounded harsh, metallic, artificial, muddy, and dark. Just as I suspected would be the case. And yet, several articles say these are the main instruments you should use Plate Reverb on, aside from ...

Re: SoundToys SuperPlate coming in May, includes five different plate models, cheap upgrade to v5.4 suite from v5.3
I've been using SuperPlate all week in production work, primarily on percussion instruments at the moment, which interestingly goes against the advice of a few articles I read that said plate reverb always makes things sound more metallic and thus should never be used on percussive instruments or in...

Re: Steinberg Dorico 5 is out today
Wow, I am SO glad that I upgraded tonight! The feature that I most need is present, even though not listed in the lengthy Release Notes, unless the way they talk about it is so obtuse that I didn't notice! My extracted parts are all now the best of any of my gazillion notation options (although admi...

Same here. This 4.1 update installed faster than the 4.0, for some reason.

Re: SoundToys SuperPlate coming in May, includes five different plate models, cheap upgrade to v5.4 suite from v5.3
… Are plates allowed to be uncolored? Maybe not in a pure sense, but compared to algorithmic reverbs (vs. convolution or hybrid verbs). At least to my ears, as I use low dosages anyway. I'm using the "plate in a room" setting in IKM's Fame (Muscle Shoals) for some stuff in this project.

Re: SoundToys SuperPlate coming in May, includes five different plate models, cheap upgrade to v5.4 suite from v5.3
I'm hoping to get heavy use of SuperPlate this week or coming weekend, as I am finalizing production on a project where LittlePlate was the main track0level reverb for almost any acoustic instrument recorded with a mic.
