Re: 828 mk3 always on...
Hello! Does anyone here run a 828mk3 (firewire) 24/7? I'm using one for a gallery installation, with the idea that it would basically run for 3 months straight. Do you think this will be reliable? Any potential problems with overheating? Sorry for the vagueness - if you need any more details let me...

Re: Ultralite 5 - Are the In/Out signals all Analogue?
almost certain it's all digital. only the gain part would be analog, it's then converted to be mixed and/or to apply eq/comp.

MOTU ultralite mk3 line inputs analog trims?
I want to connect modular gear to the MOTU and I was wondering if the trim (on analog in 3 to 8 ) in the Cuemix FX controls an analog attenuator/gain or is purely digital. It goes from -96 to +22. In the case it's purely digital that means if my input is to hot and is clipping the trim will only low...

going with a used iconnectivity 2/2. seems to be the future-proof option.

Re: MOTU fastlane; wise purchase?
There have been a few versions over the years and the USB version can still be purchased new — no idea how many years those have been sitting on the shelves, though, since it no longer shows up in current products. The manual mentions Core MIDI and then goes on about the drivers and OS 9. https://c...

Re: MOTU fastlane; wise purchase?
I've got one that I haven't used many many years. It's so old, it used a printer port rather than USB! really? well I think I'll go with Iconnectivity; seems to work well and it's class compliant. too bad they don't have a 2/2 interface. I'll either take two 1/1 or their pricey mioXM with full rout...

Re: MOTU fastlane; wise purchase?
Maybe the person made a mistake; I'm pretty sure this interface is not class-compliant at all (if you or anyone can confirm?) It says on the manual it requires driver; and nowhere except on the link you gave is it listed as class-compliant. Also some people couldn't use it before MOTU released a dri...

Re: Can an 828mk3 hybrid connected via USB act as a “Bridge” for FW devices?
I'd say there's no chance in hell. You absolutely can't have firewire over a USB connexion; even 3.2/usb-c; those are too different protocols; FW will only work through thunderbolt.

Re: ultralite mk3 crashes the mac when waking up
So I guess there's no solution for this; I'll just shut down the MOTU each time I need to put the computer to sleep then.

Re: MOTU fastlane; wise purchase?
The fastlane is still sold and listed on the MOTU website (https://motu.com/products/MIDI/fastlane_usb ); but the problem remain for all MOTU MIDI interfaces; they're not class compliant and support could be dropped any day. On the other hand my ultralite mk3 FW still works under big sur, so support...

Re: How to install MOTU Legacy interface support in CATALINA
Thanks for this. What are the chances of this working on the new M1 Macs? I have the Mk1 Ultralite (Firewire only). I've read this can work on recent Intel machines with a Thunderbolt2 to Thunderbolt1 adapter going into Thunderbolt1 to FW adapter (which I already have). But I guess M1 is whole new ...

MOTU fastlane; wise purchase?
I'll be in need of a new usb-midi interface since my edirol UM-3ex has no support for modern versions of macOS, and I'm considering a MOTU fastlane. I'll never need more than 3 I/O (with my ultralite) and I want the most reliable solution there is to send MIDI data at a pretty high rate without hicc...

ultralite mk3 crashes the mac when waking up
Hello; I recently got a macbook air M1; and I get through this ridiculous dongle chain to get to my ultralite mk3 (thunderbolt 3 -> thunderbolt 2 / thunderbolt 2 -> FW800 and a FW 800 to 400 cable). It seems to work fine; except when I try to put the computer to sleep; and bring it back to life; it ...

Re: ultralite mk3 mac M1 and big Sur
I really like the ultralite format/function ratio; tons of I/O in a really small package; which means it's a real swiss army knife for anything from mobile recording (with a fw port on your computer anyway); live; sound art installations (I have a project where I used every single I/O on the board)....
