Re: So how can i convert all the cool sampler formats?
Motu said no this morning. It must be the 96k HD library exceeds Fat 32! Also on Fat 32 to Macintosh and back some naming conventions aren't supported. He did mention SSDs. But I thought platters are better for large sequential files? I need to decide soon and get material converted as I'm getting a...

Re: So how can i convert all the cool sampler formats?
Well EOS anyway to be exact. I didn't ck on other unsupported formats. He can't import Emu EOS samples otherwise. But Motu advised me to call Chicken Systems and yes Translator Pro will auto-remap. Translator Pro will even 'image' on a W-7 system for example and from that back-up extract samples and...

Re: So how can i convert all the cool sampler formats?
An easier option is to use Translator Pro from Chicken Systems. I'm trying to import my EOS sample library and actually for me it is the only option. http://www.chickensys.com/products/sw_iteminfo.php?sw_name=Translator+Pro Depending if you can get your boot OS to see the sample hard drive. DVD/CDs ...

Re: Maschfive in Maschine?
Needed to be said in that other post. I trained myself to hit command+s before the space bar. But this is not enough with instances of Kontack, Omnisphere, or previous to Mach V 3.03 w/ DP 7.24. Saving as multis or using save-as manually: cursor into the file name field; highlight; position the 'I-b...

Re: MachFive 3.0.3 update available
Check the bonuses thread and call your rep about the competitive upgrade. About the same as upping from K-7 to K-8. I need the IRCAM algorithms for timestretching. You can (I've been told here) drag interleaved or dual mono mixes, AIF, WAV, SD2 even broadcast wave and timestretch or shorten... plan ...

Re: Waves 9 NOT COMPATIBLE with DP!
Folks bummed out about this should wait til march madness is over and call. Who knows what TS has discovered. I was worried Waves would end support of RTAS and TDM which is good news that is overlooked at the moment. :) Isn't this just growing pains for 64 bit reality? Then AVID stirs the pot with A...

ResEdit & lost resource forks? Oldschool Macheads?
Sorry. I discovered soon after this post Vision or Performer files can't be repaired. These are early MIDI only sessions Mac OS 7 off a Quadra. Vision or performer files that are not archived .MID cannot be recovered. Here are the terminal instructions to put the file and removed resource fork .xxx ...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
I'm consolidating regions and converting down to 44.1K in Tweakhead mode. Option key (hold it down) as you power up your computer. Holding down the option key temporarily halts the boot process, then you can choose to boot off an External drive, or DVD, but the clone on the external drive must be on...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
I corresponded with a retired dup facility engineer. He said 'they' always burned a clean copy first with error correction at 1x. Often the Sharpie Pen Ink causes bit errors to be read as a 0, when it is a 1. So the ink must first be cleaned off with hair spray. Why it is better to use Pink Sharpie ...

Re: Offsite/online backup solutions
I've read this re user agreements about out of the USA and passed also. I have a Gobbler account personally but my gripe is going online as a privileged user. My vote is to limit Gobbler to only session files you want to transfer. Don't use cloud storage. There was an article about a guy getting kic...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
You really don't want to be handling Dimm memory sticks anyway. Also you'll notice iLife is not installed with a clean install of retail SL DVD. But if updating from original Leopard 2 DVD set Garage Band is Logic lite and perhaps if one could slave it via rewire, waves 9 supports Garage Band above ...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
Do you have the former owner's admin password? Duh. Startup Prefs won't work as it spits out disk and won't mount. There is a firmware reset. I won't post it here. Actually simple if you don't mind handling Dimms. Search Apple support if they post the reset and it's the same as older machines. Mine ...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
Is this a pre-unibody '08? Core 2 Duo? Since you don't have the 2 DVD leopard set it shipped with new, and are not prompted for a firmware password to boot off the SL DVD, there is probably a firmware issue. Go to startup disk and change it to DVD at prompt put in admin password. Then try booting of...

Re: Snow Leopard to Lion Issues
The Gold Master LION installer messed up the new Python instal. There was a work around posted by Cockos from Arrg@Apple renaming the Python installation, now R.... 4.xx has temporarily disabled Perl because of issues. R....4.xx can run off the correctly installed older version of Python. So their S...

Re: Macbook Pro spits out Snow Leopard install disk
I have a pre Unibody 08 on SL 10.6.8. Tried to re-install clean the SL retail disk then gave up. I then tried target disk mode and it failed. The new ADMIN password did not work. I then thought to use the previous owners ADMIN password... as a firmware password to allow the install Disk to boot, but...
