Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
… Right. I know they’re “obsolete” now but with the old PCIe-424 systems, IIRC you didn’t need any external clock. With the newer ones I can see that making sense. I’m actually going to dig out my old Lucid clock and hook it up to my 828es and 24Ai just for giggles and try it out. As long as it doe...

Mike Halloran: Just want to say Thank You for keeping the flames of ye olde MOTU interfaces burning for so many MOTUNation members with your kind instructions! It is a beautiful thing. You're welcome. I keep thinking, "I don't use them (828mkII FW, MTP AV USB) anymore, let's see if I can sell ...

Re: Presonus Studio 1824c interface not working with DP11 (MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1)
I don't know if there is a driver among the "tools" in the download on this page. https://legacy.presonus.com/products/Studio-1824c/downloads If so, a new Mac needs to have security settings changed to Reduced Security before 3rd party drivers to install and load correctly. https://softwar...

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
MOTU recommends an external clock when there are three or more units connected. If you have sync issues, connect it over USB 2 instead of TB. The 828x uses a built-in Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter for connectivity. Since all MOTU FW devices run at FW400 speeds, there's a chance that the Fast USB 2...

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
Does it work connected over USB 2?
Although that does not support the track count of TB, there is no difference in latency. I the 829es works over USB, this should confirm that the TB adapter or TB2 cable is the problem.

Re: New Mac: Loud crackling driving me mad
Although discontinued, many resellers still stock it in the US. A search on eBay shows 82 for sale currently. No idea where to find one in the UK, however.Huh, typical Apple, I can't see the TB to FW adapter on the Apple UK site, just not listed. I guess it is discontinued.

Re: New Mac: Loud crackling driving me mad
Core Audio requires a USB 2 cable. Many cables no longer support the protocol. A "USB Printer Cable" is limited to USB 2. In fact, Yamaha recommends these specifically. I would order one from Amazon and see if that fixes you up—you can always return it if it doesn't. This is the usual prob...

Re: Orig 896- checking you all agree no drivers will work with it now
Hey all, I am about ready to discard an old orig 896. I downloaded the newest available MOTU audio driver installer that they offer for 896 but it won't install and says not compatible with Monterey. Barring using an old computer there's no way to communicate anymore with that old interface- is tha...

ik Multimedia ARC 4 I didn't realize they had the software available separately for users of the plugin version. I have ARC 3. Still the upgrade price is $99.99 and with my Jam Points I can only get it down to $84.99, so I think I'm going to pass for now. I still have SonarWorks that I have yet to ...

Re: Audio recordings sounding glitchy and delayed on steinberg UR44
Hello, When I record audio it starts well, but after a while it starts to sound glitchy, with reverb, delayed, choppy and all kinds of other stuff... (I don't even know how to describe it). I'm using MacOS Monterey with a Steinberg UR44. I haven't been able to have a decent audio session since. Unl...

Hi Mike, Thanks for your reply. Ive deleted everything except for - MOTU MIDI driver.kext- which couldn't be found. Reinstalled just the audio installer- which is the only thing i ever do install when trying to reinstall for the 828. Not sure what the "driver" is then? Sorry if i said &qu...

I have never found a use for Spotlight. It has a search hierarchy that has never made sense to me. I do not need an app that claims to search my computer and the web before not finding something on my Desktop.

Re: Beachballs on the reg
About 20 years. No Kontakt. Ok. Deleting the VI cache files solved this for many of us. Not to worry about deleting anything necessary as all apps rebuild missing caches and preferences when necessary. I now do this once a year. To delete the VI caches, open the following folder: com.motu.MotuAudio...

Re: Trouble remembering Micro-lite settings.
I have a couple things to add. After installing MOTU drivers in High Sierra or later, you have a 30 minute window to do the following. If you miss it, reinstall and try again. https://motu.com/techsupport/technotes/enabling-motu-drivers-mojave The MOTU MIDI installer sometimes has conflicts with oth...
