AppleTalk still exists. You have to enable it on a network interface in the Network Preference Pane. But AppleTalk is not want you want, you want to enable File Sharing between the 2 Macs. In older incarnations of the OS, AppleShare (early file sharing) required AppleTalk to be on to pass network d...

What's the Panther equivalent to AppleTalk?

I've got a 10-year-old beige desktop G3 networked to a 5-year-old mdd G4. When they were both running OS9.2.2 I used AppleTalk via my ethernet router/switch to move files back & forth between the two computers. Since updating the G4 to Panther (OSX 10.3.9) I haven't been able to figure out how t...

Re: UpStereo from QuikQuak

A free stereo enhancer. http://www.quikquak.com/Prod_UpStereo.html Downloaded Mac AU version, tried it with DP 5.13. Works. Has anyone been able to load this on a G4, or with DP 4.61? I downloaded the UpStereo plug-in, installed it, and it failed DP's AudioUnits Examination. So I downloaded a whole...

For me it's a cointoss between Elliott Carter and Milton Babbitt. But when both of those esteemed gents bite the big one (which I unfortunately suspect will be soon), I'm going to completely buck the maximalist tendencies and put my money on John Luther Adams. Note: John Luther Adams, not John "...

Awesome, I was hoping it would be something that straightforward! Thanks.

AU plug-in "fails examination" ...now what?

I installed a new Audio Unit plug-in the other day, & when I then launched DP it said "plug-in failed examination; will be ignored" or something like that. When I downloaded a new (hopefully uncorrupted) version of the plug-in & tried re-loading it, DP didn't even bother re-examini...

A Gibson ES-335/339/345 would be good additions, imho. Isn't that a bit over 1000$??? Not only that, but technically those are "semi-hollowbody" guitars. They have a solid maple centerblock that the bridge & neck are mounted to. To the OP: check out some of the Ibanez Artcore models. ...

fwiw, every comprehensive discussion and/or analysis of Elliott Carter's work I've ever encountered refers to this technique as "metric modulation" rather than "rhythmic modulation"

Hello? anyone use a MOTU Miditimepiece AV USB with a Mac here?? :?: I do. Yes, I've done a lot of searching and there must be three people on the planet that have ever used those functions. The patches, modifiers and MIDI cannons are awesome for controlling lots of MIDI gear during a live performan...

I was pretty darn fluent with Opcode's Galaxy Plus Editors, whereas I have *never* been able to get even remotely comfortable with Unisyn. I still have my original Opcode 3.5" diskettes and an old PowerMac with a (sometimes-)working floppy drive, so maybe I should just quit beating myself up an...

buses greyed out

Howdy Folks, Problem: The buses (in the bundles window) have become inactive and are greyed out. I don't know how this happened, but it occured at some point in the late afternnon today, and I can't get them to become active again. Almost all the ins and outs are fine, (except my analog ins/outs) bu...
