Re: Freeze vs. Bounce to Disk

Freezing can free up resources, because in some instances, certain VI's can be CPU and/or RAM hogs. So, you can freeze some or all of your VI tracks your machine only has to process the audio, and you can keep working on other tracks until you finish. If you decide you need to change something you ...

Re: Freeze vs. Bounce to Disk

I've never used freeze. I always bounce. I guess I still don't understand something here. Why would I want to freeze? Once I am done with a cue or piece I am doing I finish tweaking my mix and bounce it down or create stems or what ever is needed. Sorry for the stupid question but can someone dumb t...

Re: MIDI Stems?

I'm just catching this thread now. I think they made the right choice. Unless you recorded those MIDI tracks using vienna to begin with, it would sound absolutely bad because you would not have used appropriate automation and articulation controls to create the MIDI tracks. Yeah, I think ultimately...

Re: MIDI Stems?

Just figured that I'd update you guys on this. Turns out our whole dilema about the MIDI stems was a none issue as they ended up hiring a small string orchestra to record all the string parts :D Just an FYI, I was able to send him MIDI files that he was able to open and use but we didn't have to dea...

Re: Symphonic Choirs only producing vowels sounds?

When running SC in Kontakt you run Wordbuilder seperately (did that answer the question?) I did look around on the EW forums and just posted the same question there. I didn't even think of the NI forum. I will try that one too. I suppose that if I needed to I could open the file in DP5 and record th...

Symphonic Choirs only producing vowels sounds?

I moved to DP7 from DP5 a few months ago. Last night was the first time I've tried to use Symphonic Choirs. I still run all of my EWQL stuff in Kontakt. I never moved up to PLAY. It seemed like I couldn't get the choir to articulate anything other than vowel sounds? I'm not sure if I had something s...

Re: Problem with Camel Alchemy and bounce to disk

Hmm, I use my Alchemy sounds a lot. I've never run into this but I can't remember if I've tried it with a tempo change. I'll see if I can recreate your problem on my system

Re: MIDI Stems?

You're doing what you're doing for all the reasons you already said you're doing it. Earning money to do what you love is a good thing, especially when it can lead to opportunities where you will become the credited captain on a future project. It sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to ...

Re: MIDI Stems?

Not like I need to defend my actions here but I kinda feel like I do now. Just for the record I wouldn't say that I'm an advocate for ghost writing. It depends on the situation as to whether it makes sense. Here are my reasons for doing it: - I've known the one guy for a very long time and I trust h...

Re: MIDI Stems?

Let me clarify. This project is NOT for broadcast. I appologize if I wasn't clear. This is a feature film that will (hopefully) be shown in actual movie theaters. Therefore, I'm getting paid to write a few cues. I never asked them if they were going to give me a credit. I've scored 2 feature films a...

Re: MIDI Stems?

Take a screen capture of your track assignment, include it in the package you deliver and you're good to go. Screen capture, hmm, good idea. I tried sending him something last night that I had written a few years ago just to try it out. I gave him the track list. Everything seemed to work fine. We ...

Re: MIDI Stems?

Yeah, he is aware that he's going to have to tweak things. He's just under such a tight post production schedule that he needs some help composing enough material. I guess we'll just have to work out the kinks as we go

Re: MIDI Stems?

Last time I looked, OMF ignores automation and MIDI. Hmm, I just tried saving a file in OMF and it doesn't look like it really has anything to do with MIDI. All of the options had to do with audio file data. I'm going to send him the MIDI file along with a track list and see what he gets Thanks aga...

I don't know. I don't even know what OMF format is but I saw it as a format that I could do a save as in so I mentioned it to him.

I'm guessing that this seems odd

Re: MIDI Stems?

I'll try to send him something that I've already done to make sure that we have the kinks worked out. Actually he just purchased Hollywood Strings today he said and wants to use that too. He said that he's had people send him MIDI files in OMF format from DP and that's worked? I'm going to try both....
