Re: Your Favorite Mixing Tips...

That's a good one I use. How about mix with your ears not your eyes. I prefer to mix with my hands. I hear stuff like that all the time, or turn off the screen when you're mixing... I get that, but I also don't have the greatest hearing, or monitoring environment, so I will use numerical values (dB...

Re: need help - DP 4.5 won't open old project files from PC drive

So I went ahead and installed DP3 in my OS 9.2, and it doesn't see the project files either. I even tried adding .dp3 to the filename and using File Exchange control panel to add a PC extension mapping to DP3, but nothing doing. I guess whatever the Windows formatting removed from those files must'v...

Re: Your Favorite Mixing Tips...

One drum trick I like (most people on here probably know this one) is to make it a kick attack track - I copy the kick track, do a big but narrow eq boost of the high-mid beater attack (click) freq and roll off everything around it, then compress it heavily. That track helps every kick hit poke thro...

Re: need help - DP 4.5 won't open old project files from PC drive

Is there any chance that you can access the original drive? If not, install OS 9.1 onto that G4 and make it a dual-boot machine and move the project files into the Documents folder. There are some things to try in 9 that should make them open right up in 4.5. Unfortunately, my wife threw away the G...

Got it (was wondering why that was happening on other topic), thanks for the correction!

need help - DP 4.5 won't open old project files from PC drive

Hi, I have some projects I did back in 2006 in DP 3 on a tangerine iMac with OS9. At the time I knew very little about Macs and needed to make room on the hard drive, so I moved the project folders to a USB drive and then to a Win98 PC. I'd like to access those projects on my "current" set...

Re: Can't bounce to disk in DP8.05 (or 4.52)

Hi, here is a solution that solved this problem for me. I'm using DP 4.52 on OS 10.3.9... old stuff I know, but I got this PowerMac G4 500 used a few years ago, old installations of everything, recorded and mixed a bunch of projects and never ran into a system limitation. Now on a fresh OS and DP re...

Re: Audio files in wrong location

I was having the same problem and thought I'd share my experience with DP 4.52. When I start a project, I first create a song-named Project folder ("Rock Song Project" for example) and inside it I create an Audio Files folder. Then I open a DP file with no actual MIDI or audio data (just a...

Re: Mac -> PC -> Mac DP project file repair?

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Actually, I wasn't referring to the audio files; I didn't even get to check if those were still intact; I was referring to the basic DP project document file, which I assume contains the locations of the audio files, and most importantly, all of my mix & automation...

Re: Mac -> PC -> Mac DP project file repair?
Did you compress the files before you moved them?
No, I did nothing to them; I just dragged the entire "[song name] project" folders to the USB drive, then to the PC HDD, and then back. BTW, I was checking the Properties of the DP project docs and other fo...

Mac -> PC -> Mac DP project file repair?

This is probably the dumbest thing anyone has admitted to doing on this forum so please bear with me, I come from a PC world and am learning about Macs as I go... I had a bunch of tunes I did in DP3.11 on a tangerine iMac running OS9.1. Eventually I needed to get them off the harddrive and didn't ha...
