Re: Can an 8Pre be used in a live sound situation?
I believe the 8pre has Cuemix DSP. That means you can create 4 seperate stereo mixes. You could use one of those mixes as a send to a hardware reverb unit. I think you will be limited by the number of outputs available on the 8pre though.

Re: cuemix fx + bcf2000?
An update incase anyone is following this - When I boot my bcf2000 into MCC or MCso mode, it has the '-24 on fader 1' problem mentioned above by xyz. When I boot it into either baby hui or LC mode, it works without a hitch. In LC mode, not all of the functions are useable, but most are.

Re: cuemix fx + bcf2000?
I should mention this too - I ended up having to use MIDI out 'B' instead of 'A' on the BCF2000. It works with A, but as soon as you move a fader up, it slowly works its way back down to zero. Weird.

Re: cuemix fx + bcf2000?
UPDATE: I bought a BCF2000 (white). It came with the latest firmware installed (1.10). So far, it works flawlessly with cuemix FX. Whatever the issue was, it seems they have worked out the baby hui problem. My only complaint is that the fader motors are somewhat noisy and a little 'choppy' to use. O...

Re: 896mk3 and 2 8Pre's?
My initial tactic on that would be to slave both of the 8 pres to the mk3's clock. This would limit the slaving to one generation.

Re: ultralite v. Duet (again)
Ground lift the monitor and G5 and see if it goes away (use those d*mn little grey plugs). Do this only for testing purposes - if it fixes it, you have to find a real solution to your ground problems. Properly grounded AC is a good thing. If it were me, I'd also plug the duet into a mac laptop runni...

Re: Cuemix FX - how much power for live use?
I am mostly convinced that mk3 interfaces could be used as live mixers with success.

How many eqs and compressors are you using from cuemix fx? How many busses also?

Re: Cuemix FX - how much power for live use?
To me, it would be worth the extra cost. It's still a heck of a lot cheaper than a digital mixer - even if you have to get a hui controller.

Re: Cuemix FX - how much power for live use?
Thanks, ajdelange. 40% seems like a lot for such a limited number of effects. It would be nice if they designed it so that you could use all the eqs and dynamics and not run out of steam.

Cuemix FX - how much power for live use?
I have been using an 828mkII firewire for a long time. I'm considering upgrading to an 896mk3 or 828mk3. My question is for anyone who has used cuemix fx extensively. Here is what I'm thinking of doing. I want to be able to take a laptop and the mk3 interface to a gig (with a hui controller) and fee...

...yep, I've heard that about Tom too. I believe he stated that he doesn't trust hard drives and he doesn't like the way they sound either....as though hard drives have a "sound".

Re: Recording at 24/96
Forgive me if someone mentioned this already. I believe you should always sample at the rate of your final product. SD DVD - 48k. CD - 44.1k....I think that no matter how good of a sample rate converter you have, you should avoid that process.
