Re: Considering MOTU 16a

Bumping this old thread. They're still unavailable but I'm still considering it or whether to give up and get an Ultralite mk5. Fewer inputs but actually exists. If I'm using it with an iPad (no Mac), is there software to control it on the iPad, or a web app like for the Ultralite mk5? And could it ...

Re: Considering MOTU 16a

Thanks. But now it looks like it's out of stock everywhere. Guess I'll go back to programming my 828 as a convertor for now. Sigh.

Considering MOTU 16a

Greetings. I'm considering a MOTU 16a but I want to know if it will work for my use case. I want it for two purposes: 1. To connect to an iPad (no Mac) running AUM for 16 channels of input from hardware instruments. I understand that it's class compliant, so it should just show up in AUM, right? 2. ...

Re: 828Mk2 as standalone ADC only

Hi all, Thanks and sorry for mixing up the branding ..cuemix, totalmix, vitamix. A MOTU rep had told me the mk2 was no longer supported in cuemix. I am still confused, though. I have only 4 busses. If I am routing them all from panned pairs of analog ins to pairs of ADAT outs, does this mean I can’t...

Re: 828Mk2 as standalone ADC only

How's this for a necro thread? I never followed through, but today I pulled it out and gave it a shot. Totalmix for the Mk2 is, as I understand it, dead, so I am trying to do everything from the front panel. I followed the directions here: https://motu.com/techsupport/technotes/document.2004-10-14.7...

hardware control of TotalMix?

Greetings. I'm considering an Ultralite AVB, but I have a few questions: 1. Are the preamps and the convertors the same quality as the new mk5, or am I better off waiting for an updated interface? 2. Is there a possibility for hardware control of CuemixFX? I know there's great iPad integration, but ...

Re: Uses/users for "Vintage" MOTU: PCI-324 and 2408mk1

Yeah. I'm running a 2011 17" MacBook Pro as my main computer (bought new in 2011 when my 2007 died). My G5 gave up the ghost awhile back. And the fan was LOUD.

Re: Uses/users for "Vintage" MOTU: PCI-324 and 2408mk1

Thanks to Craigslist I found an enthusiastic taker. He’s trying to get a 1990s digital studio running. Has a Mac with OS9 on it still going strong. Happy it’ll get one more go-around, at least.

Uses/users for "Vintage" MOTU: PCI-324 and 2408mk1

Digging around in my storage locker for something else, I found a box with my original 1998 2408 and PCI-324, along with the manuals and install discs (including a floppy). I remember being so excited that there was an alternative to expensive ProTools options back then. But apart from the trip down...

MOTU Ultralite Mk4 -- headphone mixes?

Hi, For those who have an Ultralite Mk4, it looks like it has only one headphone out. Is there a kludge to get two different headphone mixes, or would I need a different interface for that? And is there enough power on the headphone out to drive two sets of headphones? Also, I'm sorry for the densit...

Re: 828Mk2 as standalone ADC only

I must have downloaded the quick start by mistake. Looks like I CAN do it from the front panel, and I'm going to give it a try. Thank you!

828Mk2 as standalone ADC only

Hi Folks, I'm writing with a few questions. I'd like to use my MOTU 828mk2 as an analog-to-lightpipe convertor, with no connection to the computer. If possible, I'd like to have this be the "default" setup when I power it on. The lightpipe out would then go to the ADAT in of my RME Babyfac...

computerless control of 828mk2/Ultralite as Standalone Mixer

Hi All, I have an 828mk2 and am considering an Ultralite. I know MOTU advertises standalone mixer capability with these devices, but I've always found the interface quite fiddly. I also know MOTU is now advertising iPad control via touchOSC. Here are my questions: 1. Is there a way, using a MIDI int...
